Suter Art Gallery and Matariki Stars

What another great trip we had to the Suter Art Gallery.

Esther showed us some beautiful artwork relating to Matariki and told us a gruesome Māori legend.

We then played with clay and experimented with decorating the clay with patterns.

To make sure the clay stays joined in the kiln when it is fired, we had to wet, scratch and wiggle the two pieces together.

For our art we chose two different sized stars and then decided on a word that is something we want to focus on doing or become better at in the Māori New Year ahead.  It was great having so many helpers to guide us through the process.
